We’re here to help New Yorkers learn more about telehealth
Telehealth NY is a partnership and collaboration of community organizations with a shared mission to support and raise awareness for the use of virtual care services. While virtual care is not new, many across the U.S. are now taking advantage of these services to connect with their primary care and specialty care doctors. Virtual care offers access to health care for those who experience barriers, such as lack of reliable transportation, lack of child care, and inability to leave work for health care purposes. With the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, use of virtual care services has increased, however; many people are still unsure about how to use virtual care services or are uncomfortable with using this technology. Of those who experienced a virtual care visit during the pandemic, more than 75% reported a high level of interest in using virtual care in the future.
We are excited to share that Telehealth NY has designed and developed an interactive online, self-guided video to help people become more comfortable with using virtual care services with support from a grant received in January 2021. Virtual care services are private, safe, convenient, and easy to use. Our short, interactive video will guide potential users through the steps to set up a device, provide quick tips for getting the most out of the virtual care visit with a doctor, and increasing the comfort level with this type of care. The video also shares resources, including a troubleshooting guide and checklist for the virtual care visit.
